Debbie Pearson, Assistant Director in the Division of Professional Practice at the Georgia Institute of Technology, works with cooperative education students in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. |

Her responsibilities include counseling students, developing jobs, assessing the effectiveness of co-op assignments, serving on the co-op administration team, and assisting with Work Abroad efforts. During 2006, Ms. Pearson participated in several conferences and co-authored two papers: Cooperative Education: A Proven Cornerstone for Developing Tomorrow’s Space Workforce and Developing Globally-Minded Engineers through Education and Experience: An Examination of International Co-op/Internship Models. Having traveled to various countries, Ms. Pearson is interested in cross-cultural issues and the benefits that international experiences hold for engineering students. Ms. Pearson completed a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education and a Master's Degree in English, along with counseling certification, from Troy University. Before joining the Division of Professional Practice in 1998, she served various educational institutions through teaching, counseling, administration, and project coordination.
