About Us
- Georgia Tech's Cooperative Education Program is a five-year accredited, academic program in which students alternate semesters of full-time study with semesters of full-time, paid employment directly related to their major.
- The concept of cooperative education was initially introduced at the University of Cincinnati in 1906. When Georgia Tech introduced its program in 1912, it became the fourth school to offer this method of education.
- Georgia Tech's program, currently the largest totally optional program in the United States with about 2,700 students participating, has been repeatedly named by U.S. News & World Report as one of 11 “Academic Programs to Look For”.
- More than 15,500 students have completed requirements for the Cooperative Plan degree at Georgia Tech.
- As an integral part of students' education, co-op allows students to take on increasing levels of responsibilities and to use their job knowledge and classroom learning to make meaningful contributions to the co-op employer.
- Students typically earn $40,000-$50,000 during their four or five work terms.
- Co-op students are employed by more than 1,000 businesses and organizations throughout the United States and the world.
- Many students are hired by their co-op employer upon graduation.
